RE: Please talk some sense into me

Don't feel bad....going back in history I bought a class B as my first RV......1 year later went with a super C and one year after that I got my first DP a Journey. Drove that for 2 years and now have my Vectra. Stupid , yes but I simply love my Vectra with quad slides.
And yes, there is a huge difference in a 32' gasser to a 38DP. The DP will have much more power, alot quieter up front and will ride like a charm.
Go for it! The economy needs stimulating from all areas.

RE: Motorhome mag for January-rather thin.

Funny, I thought the same thing.........sign of the times I guess.
I think that the motorhome industry needs to get in line for some of these wonderful bailouts. Wonder at what point that 750 billion would have just been better spent if the government offered the consumer a direct check for the purchase of a car, motorhome, house ect...... Say $5K for a care, 25K for a motorhome, and $50K for a house.......Send in your proof of purchase and get your check. Ahhhhhh, capitalism at it's finest!

RE: FIESTA KEY KOA????

If you're going to spend $110.00 + per night. you might want to try Bluewater Key for a bit more. At least you can put out you're awnings. The only thing is Bluewater is not kid friendly, there is not much to do in the park, but you are closer to Key West.
That's where we are staying for 5 nights 11th thru 15th and on a waiting list for 3 or 4 more days beyond that.....wish we didn't have to look for another campground but we are flexible to go as far north as key largo.
I have been warned by many that some of the keys campgrounds are not very nice and extremely tight........We're just looking for a campground anywhere in the keys to spend a week after our blue water stay while we are on our way to the next destination.

RE: 36' or 40'

If it is just the two of you a 36' with quad slides is GREAT. We stay in our RV about 8 weeks in Jan / Feb and have never had any problems with storage or feeling "closed in". There are some state parks in Michigan that just won't accommodate a 36' class A let alone a 40' BUT most state parks around the country that we have visited will have spots for both.
I have more of a problem with hanging tree limbs and tight turns more than finding a spot in the parks.

RE: Nashville in December - Staying in Lebanon

Nashville is wonderful....as stated above I would have chose one of the places on music valley drive.
2 rivers, KOA or Jellystone....they are about 1 minute from the opryland mall and the ice show. You will have a great time. We will be there on our way to Florida on the 7th of January.

RE: REXHALL INDUSTRIES

GREAT looking coaches......very aerodynamic. Always wondered what the mileage is on the diesel compared to the "boxy" coaches. The floor plans are great too.

RE: Naples Storage

Thanks for the advice...I called 1st choice and they said to contact them about 2 weeks prior to arrival. Could be risky but for $160 a month it still beats 2 weeks of campground rentals.

RE: gmac bankruptcy

Cerberus would have probably given up all of Chrysler for GM's 49% of GMAC. That's what they really wanted anyway. GM should have pursued the deal cause Chrysler has 12 billion in cash and GM could have used that!

RE: Naples Storage

Try the storage place at exit 101. After getting off the exit on SR951 go south to the first light and make a left. Then to the very first possible left and turn there, the storage place will be on your right. It is behind Cracker Barrel.
A Hayes
Thanks, but being from Michigan and sitting there right now I kinda need a name....I'll do a search for storage again and see if that one is on the map.
Do you know if it is secure?

RE: CMA Fan Festival Camping

Went to the CMA last year and as the above poser said "music valley drive" has 3 nice campgrounds. We stayed at the KOA and had our tow vehicle so it was a short commute to downtown for the festival. It is also close to opryland mall, grand old opry...very nice parks with a camping world next door and lots of fine restaurants. Plan early or you won't get a spot.

Naples Storage

Going to the family compound in Naples at the Strand (exit 111) and they don't allow you to park motorhomes there. Any suggestions of a place to store my class A 40' for a week or so during the last 2 weeks of January.
There's plenty of places to "camp" for that period but they are a bit pricey since we will be spending most of the time at the house.

RE: The repo man must be busy.

The prices looked to good to be true. A friend went an looked at an '06 pusher some time ago and said like many repo's the unit had not really been taken care of. The owners must have known it was going back to the bank and the interior was filthy, scratches on the appliances and chips in the cabinets....makes ya wonder how well they maintained the engine and did maintenance. To many good deals on RV's from private owners to mess with auctions.....IMHO

RE: Nashville - Need Assistance

I've stayed at both 2 rivers and KOA and both are very nice. I personally like the KOA and have stayed there for the last 5 years while traveling south to Florida. I just like the concrete pull thru sites as opposed to the gravel or grass sites.
Opryland mall is magnificent during the holidays. Talk about a cheap day trip....walk thru the motel gardens and the mall it will take you several hours to see it all! Drive downtown and take in a show at the wildhorse saloon also. While we where there they had dance lessons for the kids of all ages and it certainly looked like they where having fun. Early evening between 5-8 before the bar crowds come in is best. You can check on the internet to see what events they have.
The grand ol' opry is a must too! We bought the tickets at the campground and had great seats. We Love Nashville and will be there again on January 2 & 3 on the way to Florida.

RE: Pensacola and New Orleans Areas

If you go to New Orleans definately stay at the French Quarter RV resort. Talk about history.....we loved walking thru the graveyards and around bourbon street. The resort is very safe and the folks who own it will take you via golf cart to the end of the property where you cross the street and you are right in the heart of things.
We did this trip for the first time last year and the DW and I will certainly do it again.

RE: Diesel Additives..Are they needed?

I don't think it is a very big expense to put and additive in your gas tank. Whether it works or not, the cost of a $10-12 dollar additive is good insurance. The debate can go on as I'm sure it will and until you have an issue...."it's not an issue"

RE: Air Bag Question...

Interesting....went back to the coach and released the air brake, moved the coach about 2 feet forward then reversed and the air bags all inflated. Took it for a ride, dumped the air and then refilled and all is well. Must have had something to do with the air brake. Everything is back to normal now.

Air Bag Question...

Here's the scoop...
I just took the motorhome to the pole barn to store it for 2 months. When I got her in I dumped the air and noticed the front air needle went down but the rear air needle stayed over 100 psi.
Went back the next day to finish winterizing and started the coach. Everything was normal, the air pressure built up and both front and rear air guages where normal. When I went outside the coach I notice the rear end did not "lift" like it normally does. Dumped the air and started the coach again........checked the rear tires and they did not seem to lift up but the front did and both guages read over 110 psi.
I'm going to take the coach out for a ride later in the week to see if the rear lifts up. If not is there any suggestions? Could it be a stuck valve? Why would the guage read over 110psi when I know the rear of the coach is not filling up.
I don't want to wait till January when we leave for Florida and have a problem on a day when it is 10 below zero and delay our trip.
I have a 2006 Winnebago Vectra on a freightliner custom chassis.

RE: Suggestions for Naples....

The house is in the Strand which is less than one mile from that exit. I know downtown is about a 20 minute ride (depending on traffic)....that is why we first looked at Neopolitan Cove because it is so close to old Naples and we could ride our bike downtown and to the beaches.
